Yes — every byte stays on European soil with European cloud providers. More precisely, only providers from the EU, EFTA and UK are considered. Example of providers: Scaleway, OVHcloud, Hetzner, UpCloud, Exoscale, etc. Providers are subject to change but will always be European. Providers will NOT include AWS, GCP, Azure, Cloudflare, Alibaba, etc.
Not necessarily. The large hyperscalers have have points of presence in Europe too. At the moment, TheCache is mostly about data sovereignty, not performance. That being said, the goal is ultimately to be able to compete on the performance front as well.
Currently in beta, TheCache.eu is completely free to use, a not for profit project built by passionate developers. Ideally, this can remain free. However, as adoption and costs grow, a legal entity will likely be needed, together with a paid tier. There are already ideas to provide unique caching features for paid users.
